ASPACE (Dependency Prevention Training Center)

In 2016, an agreement between the Amancio Ortega Foundation and ASPACE Coruña enabled the creation of the Dependency Prevention Training Center to be created. Its objective is that the users of the institution come into contact with new technologies at the beginning of their school years in order to experience more effective learning geared towards fostering independence in their adult lives.

The training center has technological devices (interactive whiteboards, computers, swivel arms, eye-tracking devices, projectors, software designed for people with motor difficulties, etc.) that work on sensory stimulation and encourage users to participate in group activities.

As an extension of this educational area and included within the same collaboration project with the Amancio Ortega Foundation, ASPACE has also created in its residential center a domotic pilot house for the training of adult users in the use of technology for the home applied to their needs and a social place located in the day center.

The pilot house has 56 square metres distributed between the kitchen-living room and bedroom-washing areas, and is fully equipped with adapted electrical appliances, remote environmental control systems (blinds, lights, doors), accessible bathroom and motorized bed, among other electronic systems. As for the social space, it is a space that includes a reception, a cafeteria and a meeting point for families served by ASPACE users with the aim of promoting their communication skills and fostering interpersonal relationships.
