In January 2024, the Amancio Ortega Foundation and the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER) signed a collaboration agreement for the financing of FEDER activities aimed at rare disease patients and their families. Thanks to this agreement, FEDER promotes the two basic areas in which it works: therapy services for those affected and aid for research into the diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases.
In the area of therapies, the collaboration allows the Federation to double its funds destined to address treatments that allow the physical and psychological autonomy of children and adults through innovative techniques such as hydrotherapy, music therapy, cognitive stimulation and sensory therapy.
In the research area, the contribution of the Amancio Ortega Foundation allows for a substantial extension of the annual call for FEDER grants to research centres in Spain, making it possible to incorporate lines dedicated to new pathologies, in addition to supporting new research projects complementary to existing ones.
