ASPANANE Residential centre for people with intellectual disabilities

In October 2024, the Amancio Ortega Foundation and the ASPANANE association signed a collaboration agreement to build a residential centre in Xove (Lugo) for adults with intellectual disabilities.

The Amancio Ortega Foundation will contribute 10 million euros to this facility, which will have 50 places providing comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for its users. The centre will offer accommodation, specialised care, rehabilitation, psychological support, and social services.

Situated on a land parcel of over 6,000 m² granted by the Xove Town Council, the building will comprise four floors with a total area of nearly 4,000 m² for residents.

The organisation of the residence is based on the idea of creating small living units, breaking away from the coldness of traditional care models and grounding its design in the concept of home. It will have six living units, each with common spaces for leisure and relaxation.

The building will incorporate the most innovative technological and energy efficiency measures. The funding provided by the Amancio Ortega Foundation also includes all the necessary equipment to support the various services (residential, administration, nursing, rehabilitation, and auxiliary services).
